Trees fine art photography is really enjoyable for me and there are several reasons for that. For one, their presence is really peaceful and being surrounded by trees has a calming effect on my spirit. Walking through a quiet forest is quite an experience. Sometimes you hear birds and other times it is completely quiet and magical. I have been in a thick forest, on a windless day and to just stop and listen to the silence, smell the foliage, and take it all in is wonderful. Another reason I enjoy photographing trees is that they come in all types of size, shape, and color.
By far, my favorite is taking pictures of fall color aspens. The aspen tree is a very photogenic tree throughout the year. In the spring, or early summer, the aspens grow very gentle light green color leaves. They appear full of life and hope for a new beginning. In the fall the aspen leaves change in amazing colors, ranging from yellow, to orange, to red in some cases. When the sunshine hits them directly they can appear to be on fire. The bright light brings out all the vibrant leaf colors and the view is spectacular.
Fall colors can be seen in many parts of the word. However, the reason why I believe the aspens are the most special is that they usually live at high altitude. Let me explain why this is so unique and special. There are many aspen forests at the foot of beautiful mountains, and this is especially true in Colorado. By the time the aspen colors are changing, the weather is getting colder and snow storms are not unusual. When that happens, one of the most perfect combinations of beauty happens. You can see both winter and autumn at once. The view of snow-covered peaks and golden aspens at their foot is unbelievably beautiful. I am not aware that this combination of fall and winter happens in many places in the world. Therefore, I am very grateful to live in Colorado. These scenes abound here and display beauty beyond description.
