A panorama of a huge evergreen tree canopy and a big tree trunk, Oregon

Fir Tree | Mt Hood National Forest, Oregon
Oregon trees are beautiful and there are a lot of them. The one you see in this fine art image is a great example. It was tall and considerably bigger than the trees around it. However, what drew me to photograph this conifer was its majestic canopy. What I have captured here is about a 20 foot span, spreading around its base. The branches are so pretty as they extend horizontally. They look like giant green feathers.

These branches are what stood out among many trees, as was driving through the Oregon forest. Returning from a sunrise photo shoot of Mt Hood I noticed an elegantly glowing tree canopy with my peripheral vision. I almost kept on driving, but something told me to stop and go back. So I did. The beauty of this coniferous umbrella captivated me immediately and I began looking for the right angle and composition.

Photographing evergreen Oregon trees is fun. They are full of life and saturated greens. However, photographing this fir tree was somewhat challenging. It took about 15 minutes and required one of the qualities a nature photographer needs to have – patience. The reason why it took so long was the irregular gentle breeze. Every minute or so it would gently rock the branches and thus causing a blurry image. Since this is a composite of 6 overlapping photos, I had to wait for still air before pressing the shutter each time.

The majority of Oregon’s trees and forests are located in the western part, with a small portion in the northeast corner of the state. Although Oregon is known for its rain and lush vegetation about one third of the area is actually high desert. The main reason for this is the precipitation level. The Cascade Mountains block a lot of the moisture, coming from the Pacific Ocean. This causes the west side of Oregon to be wet and lush with lots of trees, while the east part remains dry and barren.

FINE ART PRINTS FOR SALE

Print Mediums

Acrylic - TruLife® LumaChrome Prints - ready to hang

This is the absolute highest luxury, museum quality product in fine art printmaking on the market today. Acrylic prints boast a tremendous range of vivid and bright colors, incredible sharpness and clarity, and an anti-reflective acrylic surface. Put together, these qualities result in an almost 3D looking showpiece, which immediately captivates and impresses the viewer. TruLife® acrylic prints are a fully finished wall art product, ready to be hung on your wall.

Lumachrome acrylic fine art prints reflect light with amazing luminescence due to the Iridium metal particles used in the print inks. Because of this, these museum quality prints appear as if they are lit from behind. In addition, the colors are amazingly vibrant and well saturated, while the dark areas maintain great detail. Furthermore, I use the anti-reflection, scratch resistant, and UV protective TruLife® acrylic as a standard on my limited edition prints.

Metal - ChromaLuxe Prints - ready to hang

Metal prints are a paperless fine art photographic product. The inks are directly infused and sealed onto an aluminum sheet, in order to produce this gallery quality, luxury artwork. ChromaLuxe metal prints result in a stunning, high-gloss fine art image, with bright and saturated colors. Metal prints have incredible image quality, archival properties, and physical durability.

Research has shown that ChromaLuxe metal prints will outlast, by three times, silver-halide photographic paper prints. Besides, metal prints are a remarkable high definition product, delivering high quality at a slightly lower price, compared to acrylic prints.
