A single pine tree perched on the edge of a tall cliff overlooking the Grand Canyon

South Rim | Grand Canyon, Arizona
This picture was captured on a late Spring afternoon along the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. It was one of those moments of my experience in fine art nature photography where I captured the unexpected. As an artist I often go out with a specific intention. It is common for me to envision a view and how it would eventually look onto a large format print. However, this is not how I ended up with this image.

On this day I was exploring the Grand Canyon South Rim in search of a great panoramic view. My goal was to capture a striking canyon view to represent the boundlessness of this impressive landscape. All of a sudden I came along a deep narrow gorge. It was scary to even look down. What caught my attention was a prominent rock with a single tree perched on top of it. To make the view even more magnificent, the last rays of the setting sun were illuminating this lone tree.

I wasted no time and set up my camera quickly. My goal was to capture the scenery while the sunlight was still upon the tree. It was like a dim candle, reflecting light on top of a very dangerous rock. The backdrop behind it was stunning! Layers upon layers of rock, sand, and earth stretched for as far as the eye could see. Sure enough the moment lasted only for a few more minutes. Nevertheless, it was enough time for me to capture it.

At the time of taking this picture, I had only traveled to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. It is more accessible than the North Rim and that is why more people come here. It also offers more expansive views that people are used to seeing in famous images. The South Rim is also more exposed with less vegetation and therefore tends to be hotter in the summer. My hope is to one day also visit the North Rim as well.

FINE ART PRINTS FOR SALE

Print Mediums

Acrylic - TruLifeยฎ LumaChrome Prints - ready to hang

This is the absolute highest luxury, museum quality product in fine art printmaking on the market today. Acrylic prints boast a tremendous range of vivid and bright colors, incredible sharpness and clarity, and an anti-reflective acrylic surface. Put together, these qualities result in an almost 3D looking showpiece, which immediately captivates and impresses the viewer. TruLifeยฎ acrylic prints are a fully finished wall art product, ready to be hung on your wall.

Lumachrome acrylic fine art prints reflect light with amazing luminescence due to the Iridium metal particles used in the print inks. Because of this, these museum quality prints appear as if they are lit from behind. In addition, the colors are amazingly vibrant and well saturated, while the dark areas maintain great detail. Furthermore, I use the anti-reflection, scratch resistant, and UV protective TruLifeยฎ acrylic as a standard on my limited edition prints.

Metal - ChromaLuxe Prints - ready to hang

Metal prints are a paperless fine art photographic product. The inks are directly infused and sealed onto an aluminum sheet, in order to produce this gallery quality, luxury artwork. ChromaLuxe metal prints result in a stunning, high-gloss fine art image, with bright and saturated colors. Metal prints have incredible image quality, archival properties, and physical durability.

Research has shown that ChromaLuxe metal prints will outlast, by three times, silver-halide photographic paper prints. Besides, metal prints are a remarkable high definition product, delivering high quality at a slightly lower price, compared to acrylic prints.
