Mountain Rainbow | Telluride, Colorado
On this Colorado Fall evening I almost missed the opportunity to capture a mountain rainbow. My evening began without a particular plan. I just wanted to get some altitude and look for a majestic landscape. The weather had been stormy, with some rain, wind, and moving clouds. Just as I reached a high location I came across some photographers who told me about the beautiful mountain rainbow I had just missed. While disappointed, I decided to walk around and wait in hope of still capturing some beautiful scenery.
However, the rain returned and the conditions started to look less promising. But then the magic happened – the winds made an opening in clouds to the West. Through that opening the sunlight broke and directly hit the gently falling rain. This magnificent combination caused the rainbow to reappear between my lens and the mountain. I literally held an umbrella above me and my camera with one hand, while pressing the shutter with the other. That evening I added another piece to my artwork portfolio. I had been given a second chance!
What a joyful experience that was. When I initially heard that I had “just missed” a beautiful mountain rainbow I was disappointed. Therefore, I was glad that I did not turn around and go back. Nature photography regularly necessitates patience and persistence in order to capture that perfect image. While the weather forecast can significantly help, predicting the exact lighting conditions is challenging. This is especially true for the Colorado Rocky Mountains where the weather can be unstable.
Rainbows are a beautiful meteorological phenomenon, which can be observed in different parts of the world. They occur when light hits water droplets, which end up reflecting, refracting, and dispersing the light. The end result is a spectacular spectrum of light visible to us when we are about 42 degrees relative to the direction opposite the light source. Rainbows are curved because the geometry of reflection causes the droplets to reflect the rainbow light in a cone. The way it works, our eyes are always positioned at the tip of the cone.
This is the absolute highest luxury, museum quality product in fine art printmaking on the market today. Acrylic prints boast a tremendous range of vivid and bright colors, incredible sharpness and clarity, and an anti-reflective acrylic surface. Put together, these qualities result in an almost 3D looking showpiece, which immediately captivates and impresses the viewer. TruLife® acrylic prints are a fully finished wall art product, ready to be hung on your wall.
Lumachrome acrylic fine art prints reflect light with amazing luminescence due to the Iridium metal particles used in the print inks. Because of this, these museum quality prints appear as if they are lit from behind. In addition, the colors are amazingly vibrant and well saturated, while the dark areas maintain great detail. Furthermore, I use the anti-reflection, scratch resistant, and UV protective TruLife® acrylic as a standard on my limited edition prints.
Metal prints are a paperless fine art photographic product. The inks are directly infused and sealed onto an aluminum sheet, in order to produce this gallery quality, luxury artwork. ChromaLuxe metal prints result in a stunning, high-gloss fine art image, with bright and saturated colors. Metal prints have incredible image quality, archival properties, and physical durability.
Research has shown that ChromaLuxe metal prints will outlast, by three times, silver-halide photographic paper prints. Besides, metal prints are a remarkable high definition product, delivering high quality at a slightly lower price, compared to acrylic prints.
Large format print sizes with great quality are available for your interior. As a landscape nature photographer, I pride myself on being able to produce huge prints with sharpness and detail. Although prints are available in custom sizes, my typical dimensions are: PANORAMIC – 20×60, 30×90, 40×120 and STANDARD – 30×45, 40×60, 48×72. You can learn the difference between panoramic and standard prints on my print sizes page. There you will also find visualization tools to help you see how different size large format prints fit inside a home decor.
When you purchase LImited Edition Gintchin Fine Art prints I will personally mail you (separately from the image) a Certificate of Authenticity, guaranteeing the identity and edition number of your new art piece.
In addition, all of my Limited Edition prints come signed, as well as indicate the print edition number. That way, the edition number on the print matches the one on your Certificate of Authenticity.
