Lupine Wildflowers | Gothic, Colorado
An amazing field of lupine wildflowers carpeting a gentle hill in front of Gothic Mountain. This is a prime location for these remarkable blossoms, which grace the landscape every summer. Growing in the midst of lush greens they are incredibly beautiful and one of my favorites. In addition, the Crested Butte area offers the biggest ones that I have seen so far.

On my photography trip I noticed this colorful field of wildflowers near Gothic, Colorado, from a distance. I was not sure exactly how to get to it but was immediately drawn and determined to explore the opportunity for pictures. To my delight it was accessible by a dirt road which then became a beautiful path, cutting right through the middle of the field. I was so thankful for the opportunity to experience these amazing wildflowers from a close distance.

What caught my eye was the single bunch of white lupins. At that moment I knew that I wanted an image with these uniquely colored wildflowers and Gothic Mountain in the background. I had never seen white lupins before. They were a fascinating gem in a sea of violet and green. It turns out that the White Lupin (Lupinus albus) is a member of the genus Lupinus, which is what the violet lupins are.

These wildflowers are abundant during the summer time near the abandoned mining town of Gothic, Colorado. It is almost a contrast between something of the past and something new as the flowers are renewed every summer. In its prime, Gothic had around 200 buildings as a silver mining town. However, by 1914 the town was deserted after the crash of silver. In 1928 new settlers came in with the establishment of the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory. It is a high-altitude biological field station focused on ecology and climate change research studies.

FINE ART PRINTS FOR SALE

Print Mediums

Acrylic - TruLife® LumaChrome Prints - ready to hang

This is the absolute highest luxury, museum quality product in fine art printmaking on the market today. Acrylic prints boast a tremendous range of vivid and bright colors, incredible sharpness and clarity, and an anti-reflective acrylic surface. Put together, these qualities result in an almost 3D looking showpiece, which immediately captivates and impresses the viewer. TruLife® acrylic prints are a fully finished wall art product, ready to be hung on your wall.

Lumachrome acrylic fine art prints reflect light with amazing luminescence due to the Iridium metal particles used in the print inks. Because of this, these museum quality prints appear as if they are lit from behind. In addition, the colors are amazingly vibrant and well saturated, while the dark areas maintain great detail. Furthermore, I use the anti-reflection, scratch resistant, and UV protective TruLife® acrylic as a standard on my limited edition prints.

Metal - ChromaLuxe Prints - ready to hang

Metal prints are a paperless fine art photographic product. The inks are directly infused and sealed onto an aluminum sheet, in order to produce this gallery quality, luxury artwork. ChromaLuxe metal prints result in a stunning, high-gloss fine art image, with bright and saturated colors. Metal prints have incredible image quality, archival properties, and physical durability.

Research has shown that ChromaLuxe metal prints will outlast, by three times, silver-halide photographic paper prints. Besides, metal prints are a remarkable high definition product, delivering high quality at a slightly lower price, compared to acrylic prints.
