Longs Peak in pink color during a winter sunrise and snow covered trees in Rocky Mountain National Park

Longs Peak | Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado
Longs Peak is the first witness of the gentle, pink sunrise light, on a snowy Colorado morning in April. This giant monolith towers as the highest summit in Rocky Mountain National Park, rising to 14,259 ft (4346 m). It is prominently seen from many parts of the park as well as from the northern Front Range Urban Corridor.

Colorado has 58 fourteeners (mountains higher than 14,000 feet) and Longs Peak is one of them, ranking at number 15. It is named after US army explorer Stephen Harriman Long. he is known to have discovered and officially named Longs Peak on behalf of the U.S. Government on June 30 in 1820. John Wesley Powell completed the first recorded ascent on August 23, 1868. The summit’s first female climber was Addie Alexander, who climbed it in 1871.

On the morning of taking this Colorado portrait of Longs Peak, I got up at 4am and drove to the park. A fresh snow storm had passed through and I was hoping to find a beautiful winter landscape. It was a true blessing to be there before sunrise and not see another soul around me. The morning was chilly but very calm and utterly stunning. The still forest seemed frozen in time. However, the combination of fresh snow and an impressive mountain backdrop created a tremendous landscape for fine art nature photography.

I knew that the first rays of light would hit the face of Longs Peak, since the Colorado landscape is unobstructed to the east. In just a short while this frozen mountain began to warm. I could see the saturated pink light fall on it and the beautiful transformation began. Like a ray of hope the morning sunrize breathed life into this cold winter wonderland. It was the moment I had been waiting for. What a privilege it was to see it unfold in front of me and capture it with my camera!

FINE ART PRINTS FOR SALE

Print Mediums

Acrylic - TruLife® LumaChrome Prints - ready to hang

This is the absolute highest luxury, museum quality product in fine art printmaking on the market today. Acrylic prints boast a tremendous range of vivid and bright colors, incredible sharpness and clarity, and an anti-reflective acrylic surface. Put together, these qualities result in an almost 3D looking showpiece, which immediately captivates and impresses the viewer. TruLife® acrylic prints are a fully finished wall art product, ready to be hung on your wall.

Lumachrome acrylic fine art prints reflect light with amazing luminescence due to the Iridium metal particles used in the print inks. Because of this, these museum quality prints appear as if they are lit from behind. In addition, the colors are amazingly vibrant and well saturated, while the dark areas maintain great detail. Furthermore, I use the anti-reflection, scratch resistant, and UV protective TruLife® acrylic as a standard on my limited edition prints.

Metal - ChromaLuxe Prints - ready to hang

Metal prints are a paperless fine art photographic product. The inks are directly infused and sealed onto an aluminum sheet, in order to produce this gallery quality, luxury artwork. ChromaLuxe metal prints result in a stunning, high-gloss fine art image, with bright and saturated colors. Metal prints have incredible image quality, archival properties, and physical durability.

Research has shown that ChromaLuxe metal prints will outlast, by three times, silver-halide photographic paper prints. Besides, metal prints are a remarkable high definition product, delivering high quality at a slightly lower price, compared to acrylic prints.
