This sunset is one of the best I have observed, as seen here in Isabelle Farm. It was October and that is the season for some of the most magnificent sunrises and sunsets in Colorado. I had been observing the clouds all day long as they kept slowly gathering high in the sky. My suspicion was that a stunning sunset might be in the making that evening.
Given that Halloween was just around the corner I had promised our, young at the time, children to go and get some carving pumpkins. Therefore, I intentionally timed the visit to the farm with the early evening, so that we could be there for the sunset. Just in case I took my camera and tripod on the short trip.
After picking out our pumpkins I positioned my camera and began waiting. It was not long before the sunset light painted the entire sky and farm land with golden hues. The beautiful clouds served as a reflection board and therefore illuminated the entire foreground. As a result, all the ripe pumpkins began glowing. The combination was a perfect fine art nature photography opportunity with great colors and gentle light all over the landscape.
Needless to say, my children soon grew very impatient with me and began urging me to finish. However, the sunset colors, the pumpkins and the farm truck were so beautiful that I could not stop shooting. I had to try different angles and capture this Golden Moment, which would soon be gone.
