Fall color leaves and bushes with white aspen trunks

Independence Pass | Aspen, Colorado
Fall colors along the west side of Independence Pass road are abundant during the autumn season. One can just take a slow relaxing drive and enjoy plenty of aspen trees with colors ranging from bright yellows to dark oranges or reds. However, every now and again it pays off to go off the beaten path and search for more unique views. Therefore, I decided to just take a stroll through the aspen forest and see what I could find.

A fine art landscape photographer often goes to well known locations. However, there are times when in order to get a unique view one must search for the unexpected. On this occasion I was in search of distinctive aspen fall colors west of Independence Pass. When I came upon this scenery it was very clear that the fall colors were exceptional. However, there was a major challenge. The forest floor was on a gentle slope with tall bushes obstructing my view. I needed a way to lift myself and the camera. Luckily there were two massive aspen trees, which had fallen down next to each other. Their huge trunks created a natural bridge, which was about 4-5 feet off the ground.

Sometimes I have to climb or position myself on strange structures in order to get the shot I really want. Thus, I managed to balance myself and my tripod on these fallen trees. It gave me a higher vantage point and opened up the scene. However, making this panoramic picture was rather tricky. The tripod had to be sturdy as well as perfectly level for horizontal panning. Nevertheless, these fall colors near Independence Pass road were so amazing that the exercise was absolutely worth it.

Long after capturing this image I was at home processing it on my computer, when I noticed something interesting. Look carefully at the aspen tree trunk in the far right. Can you see the bear claw marks? This was a fun treat for me to discover after the fact. After years of doing I experience this occasionally. I go out and capture a spectacular view. Then I look at the artwork at full resolution on my computer screen, and notice an interesting detail I had not noticed in real time.

FINE ART PRINTS FOR SALE

Print Mediums

Acrylic - TruLife® LumaChrome Prints - ready to hang

This is the absolute highest luxury, museum quality product in fine art printmaking on the market today. Acrylic prints boast a tremendous range of vivid and bright colors, incredible sharpness and clarity, and an anti-reflective acrylic surface. Put together, these qualities result in an almost 3D looking showpiece, which immediately captivates and impresses the viewer. TruLife® acrylic prints are a fully finished wall art product, ready to be hung on your wall.

Lumachrome acrylic fine art prints reflect light with amazing luminescence due to the Iridium metal particles used in the print inks. Because of this, these museum quality prints appear as if they are lit from behind. In addition, the colors are amazingly vibrant and well saturated, while the dark areas maintain great detail. Furthermore, I use the anti-reflection, scratch resistant, and UV protective TruLife® acrylic as a standard on my limited edition prints.

Metal - ChromaLuxe Prints - ready to hang

Metal prints are a paperless fine art photographic product. The inks are directly infused and sealed onto an aluminum sheet, in order to produce this gallery quality, luxury artwork. ChromaLuxe metal prints result in a stunning, high-gloss fine art image, with bright and saturated colors. Metal prints have incredible image quality, archival properties, and physical durability.

Research has shown that ChromaLuxe metal prints will outlast, by three times, silver-halide photographic paper prints. Besides, metal prints are a remarkable high definition product, delivering high quality at a slightly lower price, compared to acrylic prints.
