Aspen Forest Path | Colorado
A gentle forest path leads out to a clearing filled with the last light of the day and full of fall colors. It weaves its way through aspen tree trunks and occasional lonely pines. On both sides of the track lie fallen trees, reminding of the changing cycles in nature. Golden leaves carpet the forest floor, adding to the magic of an autumn Colorado mountain evening.
I was walking on this forest path, returning from an evening photography shootout, when I captured the image above. The sun had long set and there were only a few brief moments of natural light left in the day. What really drew my attention was the forest setting and charming distribution of light.
For some time I had been walking on the path through a thick forest that was growing increasingly dark. However, there was a large opening among the trees and the trail passed right through it. After walking through a darker section, it felt as if the path led me to light. This is exactly the feeling I am trying to portray here, besides the beauty of fall.
This forest path, as seen in the evening light, reminds me of the seasons of life when we have to walk through darker valleys. Those moments where we have to stay the course, despite the discomfort experienced. The times when the end of a long trial is within sight and something beautiful awaits on the other side. There is something beautiful in those instants and it is what this fine art photograph is all about.
