The fall colors near Telluride can be some of the most magnificent in Colorado. My favorite landscapes for photography are the wide open panoramic vistas. The ones full of grandeur, beauty, and symmetry which captivate the spirit. Fall colors are one of my favorite genres because when they are present the view is even more spectacular. Creating contemporary photo prints from this type of scenery is the most enjoyable for me.
The morning on which I captured this scene I did not have a specific picture composition plan. I simply went out on a slow exploratory hike outside Telluride, searching for a fall colors opportunity. I went up and down the valley and scouted various angles endeavouring to capture the aspen trees and Bridal Veil Falls. At the end, I backed out of the valley and went for the panoramic view. It was apparent that this was the most stunning vantage point. It revealed the entire valley with its golden aspen splendor and displayed Bridal Veil Falls in its full glory.
The combination of elements in this image are so beautiful to me. The waterfall, the fall color aspens, the two creeks on the left, and the symmetry of the view create a breathtaking sense of the Telluride valley. It is a classic example of why, when I think of my artwork, I consider the Creator to be the Master Artist and myself to be just a beauty explorer, looking to catch and preserve His live fine art. It is also the reason why I called this image God’s Canvas.
Telluride is a charming Colorado town surrounded by tall and majestic mountains. Being a former silver mining settlement, today it is a famous ski resort and a tourist attraction. The area was also home to gold mining and was rich in zinc, lead, and copper as well. Although Telluride bears its name from the ore compounds of the chemical element tellurium, this mineral is actually not found in the valley. Regardless, the Telluride area is a magnet for those seeking to get a glimpse of remarkable mountains and fall aspen colors.
