This image displays a stunning and untouched mountain scenery. It showcases San Juan Mountains photography in an undisclosed location. It is also special to me because the particular view can only be seen through private land access. The location is closed to the public and I have not seen this landscape captured by another photographer. Therefore, I consider myself extremely fortunate. I have been given the opportunity and permission by the landowners to capture this amazing beauty, seen only by few.
What mesmerized me about this location was how wild and unaffected by civilization it appeared. I could not see paths, trails or other signs that people often leave out in the wilderness, which is rare. When capturing it, I felt as if looking upon a giant garden of nature, which had been kept hidden from the, often destructive, actions of people. The symmetry and the elegance of this terrain was unforgettable. The colors were beautiful as I could see both fall and signs of winter at the same time.
Photography trips in the San Juan Mountains are always special and I often come home with great imagery. There is just something about Southwestern Colorado and its beauty that is present mostly in this part of the state. The peaks are steeper and more jagged. The aspen forests are more abundant. Fewer people come here and the feeling of beautiful wilderness is stronger.
I am not sure if I will ever have the opportunity to see this view in real life again. Nevertheless, even if it does not happen, I will cherish the fact that I was given this chance. I am thankful for the experience and for capturing this image in the first place. Now I can offer it to my customers as a limited edition, large format print.
