The Wilson Peak area near Telluride to me is like a little heaven on Earth. Wilson Peak towers over the scenery with its elegant shape. Being a nature photographer I find this Colorado mountain both intimidating and beautiful at the same time. When you look at Wilson Peak, it draws you in, while commanding respect. You cannot drive by this splendid giant, even from a distance, and not notice it. To add to its grandeur, acres and acres of beautiful aspen trees blanket the mountain’s base. They create what I call the Classic Colorado Landscape, especially spectacular in the Fall season when aspens are changing colors.

The remoteness of Wilson Peak and Telluride is very appealing to me. Tourists generally do not flock here. Most of the time Wilson Mesa is quiet and peaceful. Occasionally one may see farmers and ranchers, or other photographers. The countryside reminds me of an era gone by. Of times when life was slower and more tranquil. It reminds me of a lifestyle foreign to most of us, who are busy in the daily hussle and bussle of modern life.

Therefore, any time I get to be in nature and use my camera, I am grateful. Those opportunities are a reminder of what lies out there, where most people don’t venture. These charming moments of our natural world are what I strive to capture and bring to a high quality art print. They are the fuel for my passion and desire to create Windows to Nature with my artwork, year after year.

This image of Wilson Peak was taken on a rather windy Telluride morning. Although unpleasant to the human body, these types of weather conditions are worth enduring because they often produce very dramatic images. The beauty and drama are usually enhanced when there are clouds in the sky. The winds cause the clouds to constantly shift and create different shapes and openings, which often lead to the sunlight beaming through and illuminating the land in very interesting ways.
