Mount Sneffels | Uncompahgre National Forest, Colorado
On this autumn afternoon day I was in search of new views of the beautiful Mount Sneffels. As a Colorado based landscape photographer, this area had attracted me for almost a decade. Given that it was mid afternoon, the sun was still high in the sky, causing the light angle to be rather steep. Direct sunlight from above in most cases is to be avoided. However, sometimes there are exceptions and this particular image is an example of that.

Direct sunlight in the middle of an afternoon can be quite harsh and unfavorable for taking an image. It creates deep shadows and high contrast, which can be undesirable. Nevertheless, on this particular day those very light elements helped create a naturally dramatic effect. This was accomplished by the help of a cloudy sky, which diffused most of the sunlight, while allowing some of it to shine through.

Mount Sneffels (14,157′) looms in the distance as a dark and ominous presence. It remains in the shadows, along with much of the terrain. Regardless, the sun manages to break through the clouds and shine its light straight onto the giant colorful hill. The brightly lit hill dominates the scene as all of its Fall foliage, illuminated by the sunlight, appears to be on fire. Despite the unfavorable conditions, the final outcome turned out beautiful.

Mount Sneffels is a fourteener located in the San Juan Mountains, Uncompahgre National Forest, Colorado. It is also the highest summit of the Sneffels Range, which is a series of picturesque peaks running east to west. It is a magnificently looking summit but is not easy to climb. Its upper part is especially challenging and can be quite dangerous. The good news is – one does not have to climb this most beautiful Colorado fourteener in order to enjoy its gorgeous look.

FINE ART PRINTS FOR SALE

Print Mediums

Acrylic - TruLife® LumaChrome Prints - ready to hang

This is the absolute highest luxury, museum quality product in fine art printmaking on the market today. Acrylic prints boast a tremendous range of vivid and bright colors, incredible sharpness and clarity, and an anti-reflective acrylic surface. Put together, these qualities result in an almost 3D looking showpiece, which immediately captivates and impresses the viewer. TruLife® acrylic prints are a fully finished wall art product, ready to be hung on your wall.

Lumachrome acrylic fine art prints reflect light with amazing luminescence due to the Iridium metal particles used in the print inks. Because of this, these museum quality prints appear as if they are lit from behind. In addition, the colors are amazingly vibrant and well saturated, while the dark areas maintain great detail. Furthermore, I use the anti-reflection, scratch resistant, and UV protective TruLife® acrylic as a standard on my limited edition prints.

Metal - ChromaLuxe Prints - ready to hang

Metal prints are a paperless fine art photographic product. The inks are directly infused and sealed onto an aluminum sheet, in order to produce this gallery quality, luxury artwork. ChromaLuxe metal prints result in a stunning, high-gloss fine art image, with bright and saturated colors. Metal prints have incredible image quality, archival properties, and physical durability.

Research has shown that ChromaLuxe metal prints will outlast, by three times, silver-halide photographic paper prints. Besides, metal prints are a remarkable high definition product, delivering high quality at a slightly lower price, compared to acrylic prints.
