Faroe Islands
This image for me captures the spirit of the Faroe Islands, or as the locals call it – Foroya. It is the magical landscape of steep mountainous islands in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean. Far from any other land the Faroes are a tiny pearl in the middle of nowhere. A place where trees do not grow naturally but also a place where beautiful grasslands carpet the mountain slopes and valleys everywhere. A place with its own unique charm and climate where the annual temperature typically varies between -5 °C (23 °F) and 18 °C (64 °F).
What I have captured in this photograph are three separate islands all in close proximity. Notice the beautiful combination of rock, lush grass, water, and clouds. These terrific islands stand tall and proud as giant guardians all the way from the ocean to the clouds. Stunning, colossal land masses which are the norm here, they create a landscape like no other.
