A unique view of Maroon Bells near Aspen, Colorado as seen on a gorgeous winter morning. Most landscape and nature photographers capture these mountains at the typical location – Maroon Lake. While the lake offers a great view, I believe that the beauty of these fourteeners can be seen from other locales as well.
In this rendition I am presenting a unique composition of Maroon Bells and an aspen grove in the foreground. In my mind this scenery gives a different perspective of the massive peaks. It highlights their sheer size in an intimate fashion. This image also demonstrates the beautiful landscape symmetry of the area. This I believe is one of the reasons why so many people are drawn to come and visit.
Observe how the sunlight reveals all the details in the faces of Maroon Bells as well as the fine texture of the aspen trees. Taken on a late January morning, this scene was breathtaking. Even as I pressed the shutter to capture it, I could not get enough of it. It was so incredibly captivating that I did not want to leave. I felt an urge to soak it completely with all my senses.
Finally, the layers of clouds and blue sky, Maroon Bells, aspen trees, and a snow covered field bring it all together in this fine art landscape photograph. Although winter in the mountains can be uninviting, it was not so on this day. With plenty of sunshine and calm air the experience for me was incredible. This is what I call “a million dollar view”.
